Summary

Carvel Ukrainian Cultural Society is small, yet active Community Association, playing host to a wide array of programs and special events and is very busy with hall rentals year-round.  However, the lack of barrier-free washrooms combined with the need to add a multi-use space, particularly for smaller rentals, has had an impact not only on potential rentals but access to the building for some individuals.  The Board developed the Building for the Future facilty expansion and upgrade plan as a means of addressing these needs.  They have been active in fundraising to cover a significant portion of the costs, including an application to the New Horizons for Seniors Grant, Community Facility Enhancment Program Grant, the Canada 150 Community Infrstructure Program Grant as well many other smaller, private grants.  They are seeking funding assistance in the amount of $100,000 from the County to ensure the project is able to proceed.  Further details are available in the attached Administrative Report and grant application.  If approved, funding will be added to the 2016 budget.
