Request for Dissolution of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee
Proposed Motion
That Council discontinue appointed Council member and public member appointments to the Truth and Reconciliation Committee and that the Truth and Reconciliation Committee be dissolved effective May 28, 2024, as presented.

Administration supports the proposed motion, as presented, to allow for Parkland County to work in alignment with municipal partners.
Purpose
To discontinue Parkland County's Truth and Reconciliation Committee and, instead, work in collaboration with municipal partners.
Summary
At the regular meeting of Council on June 13, 2023, Council approved the Terms of Reference for the Truth and Reconciliation Committee. Additionally, four public members were appointed for a one-year term each. Each year at Council's Organizational meeting, Councillors are appointed to boards and committees. Council Members Birnie and Kucher-Johnson were appointed at the October 24, 2023 Organizational meeting of Council for the ensuing year.
On June 22, 2021, Council received the Tri-Municipal Regional Plan (TMRP) report for information. Included as part of the presentation was the Cultural Strategy addressing regional collaboration with indigenous culture. Administration supports this collaborative approach with municipal partners.
