Administration supports the proposed motions.

 

Purpose

To describe the scope and responsibilities of Fire Services in addition to incorporating updates to current rules in the Fire Permit Bylaw 22-2012 and False Alarm Bylaw 2016-24.

 

Summary

The Fire Permit Bylaw was last updated in 2012 and since that time, Administration has identified opportunities for improvement to streamline process and incorporate resident and business feedback that has been received periodically as well as a part of the formal public engagement process undertaken during this review. The new bylaw incorporates the purpose of the Fire Permit Bylaw (22-2012) and the False Alarm (2016-24) under a single bylaw with an expanded scope to describe the scope and responsibilities of Fire Services.

 

Historical Information:

October 24, 2023 - Bylaw 2023-17 received first reading.

October 24, 2023 - A public hearing was scheduled to be held on November 28, 2023 at 09:30 a.m. at Parkland County Centre, Council Chambers to hear public comment on Bylaw 2023-17.

November 28, 2023 - A public hearing was opened to hear public comment on Bylaw 2023-17.  Council postponed the public hearing to reconvene on December 12, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
