Purpose
To receive a presentation regarding Parkland County's success in achieving an Award of Merit in the 2014 IABC Capital Awards.
Summary
Parkland County Communications and Strategic Planning Services, as members of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), Edmonton Chapter, submitted the Parkland County Animal Control Bylaw Public Engagement Initiative for consideration in the 2014 IABC Capital Awards competition in the category of Communications and marketing programs and campaigns - external. The Capital Awards are held each year and are open to all Edmonton communicators, graphic designers, and students in northern Alberta.
Submissions in the external communications category include projects, programs, and campaigns defined by strategic communications or marketing plans. They represent the full range of a communicator's planning and management skills, including research, strategy, planning, implementation, measurement, and evaluation.
The Capital Awards grants two levels of awards: Award of Excellence and Award of Merit. Entries are judged on a 10-point scale, with each entry being judged twice (the final score is averaged between the two). Entries with a score between 6.5 and 7.9 receive an Award of Merit. Entries with a score of 8.0 or greater will receive an Award of Excellence.
On June 6, 2014, Parkland County Communications received notification that our entry, the Parkland County Animal Control Bylaw Public Engagement Initiative, received an Award of Merit. Receiving this award is a significant achievement and validates our efforts towards open and transparent communications and for increased public engagement and involvement on County issues.
