RECONVENE PUBLIC HEARING - 9:30 a.m.

Bylaw No. 2018-25: Proposed Amendment to Land Use Bylaw No. 2017-18 to Remove Certain Lands From the Whitewood Direct Control Overlay District Adjacent to the Former Whitewood Mine Site

Proposed Motions

Upon closing the Public Hearing:

1. That Bylaw 2018-25 receive second reading.

2. That Bylaw 2018-25 receive third and final reading.

Body

Administration Recommendation

Administration supports that Bylaw 2018-25 receive second and third reading.

Purpose

Bylaw 2018-25 will amend Land Use Bylaw 2017-18 to remove the Whitewood DC Overlay from privately owned lands adjacent to the former mine area and return the lands to their original land use district that existed pre-mining activity.

Summary

Bylaw 2018-25 received first reading at the October 23, 2018 regular Council meeting, and a public hearing was scheduled. The public hearing was held on November 27th, 2018 and was tabled to reconvene on January 22, 2019. There is a new Administrative Report, in addition to the previously circulated documents with no subsequent changes made to these documents. Bylaw 2018-25 is an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw 2017-18 and is a follow-up from the redistricting in March 2018 that removed the Whitewood Direct Control Overlay from TransAlta owned lands.

Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications:

The proposed amendment is consistent with the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Growth Plan, the County's Municipal Development Plan 2017-14; no amendment to these Plans are required to support the proposed Land Use Bylaw Redistricting.
