Purpose
To give opportunity to communities and County residents to develop a composting facility within the Country Residential District.
Summary
Parkland County received an application for a site specific Land Use Bylaw amendment for an existing composting facility south of the Summer Village of Seba Beach. However after further review and research by County staff, and based on requirements that Alberta Environment may have, it was decided to propose a broader amendment that would allow consideration for such a use within any Country Residential Land Use district.

The proposed amendment to the Land Use Bylaw would allow a composting facility to be developed within any Residential District however they would not be allowed to exceed collection of 100 tonnes of leaf and yard waste per year. Alberta Environment requires approvals for composting sites that accept more than 100 tonnes of leaf and yard waste per year.
