Body
Administration Recommendation
Administration supports both recommendations.
Purpose
The current air handling unit at the TLC Pool is not functioning properly and requires replacement.
Summary
The current air handling system has not functioned properly for quite some time. The dehumidification function has not been in working order since 2005; this coupled with a number of other issues as outlined in the attached report have resulted in air quality issues, condensation build up within the building structure and the ventilation unit causing premature equipment failure. The existing unit was said to have a life expectancy of 8-12 years if properly equipped and operated; the current unit is 10 years old and has been plagued with numerous issues, high repair bills and down time. Immediate repairs are required to reduce future structural and mechanical damages.
The work required to address these issues includes the installation of a new air handling unit and ducting for a total cost of $1,190,000.00. All three municipalities are being asked to contribute towards the project. Given Parkland County's portion of the municipal contributions towards the TLC is 30% our cost share of this project is $357,000.00.
