Administration supports the motion as the Strategic Plan provides Council's vision for the County. It is an important document for Administration as it identifies priority areas for departments when developing annual business plans and budgets.
Purpose
To present to Council for review and adoption the Parkland County Strategic Plan 2016 - 2020.
Summary
Each year, Council reviews and updates their Strategic Plan to ensure it continues to align with the vision Council has for the future of Parkland County. Over the last four months Council worked with a consultant to develop new Vision and Mission statements and identify Strategic Priority Areas. The six Strategic Priority Areas are Environment, Regional Strategy, Economic Development and Tourism, Enhanced Connectivity, Agriculture, and Healthy Communities. These Priority Areas form the foundation of the Strategic Plan and will guide Administration through the next five years. Administration has worked to develop accompanying action plans and performance measures to ensure the organization is moving towards Council's vision for Parkland County.

Reviewing and updating the Strategic Plan reflects Council's commitment to good governance by ensuring short term goals meet the long term vision for Parkland County.
