Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications
Parkland County has adopted the national installation standard NFPA 13D, Standard for the Installation for Sprinkler Systems in One and Two Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes, as established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which is the standard making organization that sets the guidelines for fire protection systems in Canada. The standard has been adopted for installation in one and two family homes in certain areas of the County (i.e. Big Lake Area Structure Plan area where a municipal water system is available)  to aid in the detection and control of residential fires and thus provide improved protection against injury, life loss and property damage. This standard ensures that residents of Parkland County continue to enjoy a safe and high standard of fire fighting services in residential communities within the County.
