Administration Recommendation

Administration recommends that Council receive the Smart Parkland Action Plan for information and directs the implementation of the plan.

 

Purpose

The purpose of the Smart Parkland Action Plan is to provide a strategic direction for the Smart Parkland project to get rural residents connected to broadband in support of Council's strategic priorities.

 

Summary

The Smart Parkland Action Plan provides a strategic direction to continue to get rural residents connected to broadband. The plan works towards providing support and resources to further connect community, business, lifestyle, health and agriculture through technology. Smart Parkland focuses on how technology improves lives, careers, businesses and communities. This action plan will aid Parkland County to continue to be a leader in rural broadband infrastructure and community economic development support services.

Parkland County Council and administration have identified complete communities as a key strategic priority. As part of Parkland County's larger complete communities endeavours, Smart Parkland supports access to technology, creating an innovative culture through broadband.
