Summary
Graminia Community League and Social Society currently holds a license on Municipal Reserve Lot R2, Block 1, Plan 762-1673 SW7.51.26W4th. The Municipal Reserve land has been utilized over the years by area residents for numerous recreational uses, both spontaneous and programmed.
As part of the current license, Graminia Community League is permitted to have two equestrian riding rings. Graminia Community League and the Devonshire Pony Club have a long standing relationship whereas the pony club is permitted to use the riding ring as well as the open field to run classes in exchange for help with the maintenance of the land. The Devonshire Pony Club was informed, in early 2014, by their insurance provider that they needed to improve the security of the riding areas that they utilize, specifically the ability for horses to get onto the road unintentionally. The pony club approached the community league about installing a fence. It was determined that because the area is used not only by the pony club but also by area residents for spontaneous riding activity that it would be in the halls best interest to have the area fenced. In the fall of 2014, in good faith, the pony club went ahead and installed a fence. The Graminia Community Hall and Devonshire Pony Club where advised to stop work on the fence as they had not requested permission from Parkland County as per the Municipal Reserves - Recreational Uses Policy RP001.
