Title
9:05 a.m. Appointment - Wild Family
100 Year Agricultural Award
Body
The Wild family's connection to Parkland County began over 100 years ago when Frank and Etta Wild arrived to settle in the area in 1915. Frank and Etta purchased NW 34-52-26-W4 in 1917 for $16,000. This piece of land with a house, barn, garden and outbuildings was where they raised their family of six children. There have been many changes in the landscape around the farm since they first settled in the area. Highway 16A is on their doorstep and Acheson has grown to surround them. Throughout all the changes, the land has remained in the family. The land was passed from Frank to his son George, to his son Allen, who is currently farming the land with his family, the fourth generation of Wilds.
The Wilds submitted an application pursuant to Policy AD-025 Awards of Excellence Program for acknowledgment under the 100 Year Agricultural Award. The Wilds are residents of Division 2 and are farming land that has been in the family since 1917. The application met the criteria of Policy AD-025 and the Wild family is eligible for this award.
