Proposed Motion
That Council approve an additional operating expense and grant revenue to the Agronomic and Sustainability Program budget in the amount of $35,000.

To request approval to expend additional grant funds awarded in 2021.
Summary
The Government of Alberta provides grant funding to municipalities that have Agricultural Service Boards. Grant funding is provided under two funding streams. The Legislative Stream supports municipal activities to enforce provincial statutes such as the Weed Control Act and to fund activities under the Agricultural Service Board Act. The Resource Management Stream supports the development and delivery of resource management extension programming to meet industry standards that support consumer expectations.
The previous grant agreement with the Government of Alberta expired in 2020. A new five year funding application was submitted in April 2020. The Legislative Funding Stream was approved in October 2020 and was included in 2021 budget.
Approval of the Resource Management Funding Stream was delayed due to Government of Alberta budget constraints. The Government of Alberta approved funding in the amount of $35,000 under the Resource Management Stream in March 2021. Due to the delay in approval of this grant application and indications from the province that funding was uncertain, the grant funding and associated expenses were not included in the spring budget adjustments approved by Council.
