Title
Bylaw 2025-07 - Road Closure - Sale (Meridian 5 Range 6 Township 52 Plan 822 1031)
Proposed Motions
1. That Bylaw 2025-07 receive second reading.
2. That Bylaw 2025-07 receive third reading.
Body
Administration Recommendation
Administration supports the proposed motions to receive second and third reading. After receiving first reading, the bylaw was forwarded to Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (ATEC). ATEC approved the Bylaw in August 2025.
Purpose
To close a portion of road allowance for the purpose of sale and consolidation into adjacent lands.
Summary
The adjacent landowners have submitted an application to close a portion of the Range Road 63 road allowance, as outlined in survey plan 822 1031. This section was acquired by the County in 1982 as a widening of the existing road allowance.
The Jack Pine Grazing Reserve borders the area to the north, and the original statutory road allowance adjacent to the property runs through a low-lying, forested area. The proposed closure and consolidation of this widened road allowance aims to address concerns regarding the close proximity of the residence to the road allowance, as well as minor yard encroachments into the area.
Currently, the southwest corner of the residence is approximately 3 metres from the nearest point of the road allowance. The proposed closure will not affect the 20-meter statutory road allowance located along the west side of the parcel.
An internal Parkland County circulation and preliminary inquiries to Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (ATEC) and Alberta Forestry and Parks were completed prior to first reading with no concerns identified. Following first reading, utility providers in the area were notified to allow the opportunity to request easements if necessary. The bylaw was approved by ATEC in August 2025.
Historical Information
The road allowance widening to be closed and sold was surveyed in 1981 and registered in 1982.
