Proposed Motion(s)
That Council approve revised Public Committee Members Policy C-AD26, as presented.
Body
Administration Recommendation(s)
Administration supports the proposed revisions to Policy C-AD26.
Purpose
The proposed changes to Policy C-AD26 bring it up-to-date, and also addresses administration's concerns with public committee members not submitting their expense claims on a timely basis, and a provision that is applicable to all public advisory committees regarding Council's ability to remove a public committee member.
Summary
The following changes are recommended to Policy C-AD26:
1.      Replace reference in Standard 5.a from "Subdivision Authority" to "Municipal Planning Commission."
2.      Add flexibility to eligibility for mileage in Standard 5.c to accommodate those who must make special trips to pick up committee meeting agendas.  Note:  Eligibility for mileage to attend conferences is already provided in Standard 5.d.
3.      Correct reference in Standard 5.c to the appropriate policy (Council Expenses Policy C-AD24).
4.   Add new Standard 5.f to include the same requirements regarding expense account submissions and forfeiture that are provided in Council Expenses Policy C-AD24.
5.  Add new Standard 10 to provide for the removal of a public committee member from a committee.
