Purpose
Parkland County is committed to meaningful, transparent, and accountable public engagement that supports well-informed decision-making, builds trust, and strengthens relationships between the County, it's residents and the business community.
During Orientation in November 2025, Council identified a need to engage with residents in each division, while highlighting and promoting our local Community Halls/Associations. Administration has reviewed options for to facilitate this engagement, and is bringing back a plan of action for Council's consideration.
Summary??
Administration has prepared an Action Plan outlining the suggested format for "Community Conversations" which is an informal engagement format meant to provide Council with an opportunity to connect with residents in each division. Community Conversations will feature a series of open house-style engagement events held in community halls in each division. The goal of Community Conversations is to provide opportunities for residents to speak directly with elected officials to offer feedback about their community and community league, along with any other matters they wish to discuss.
The format for Community Conversations aligns well with work that Administration is currently undertaking to develop a Public Engagement Framework in 2026. Administration anticipates that the Community Conversations format will inform these efforts, and will assist in establishing?consistent, accessible, and transparent engagement practices.
