That Elected Official duties for Division 6 be delegated to the Mayor and members of Council for the term of August 11, 2024 to October 27, 2025 for the vacancy of Division 6 member of Council.

Purpose
To provide direction related to the vacancy on Council.
Summary
In October 2021, six members of Council were elected as well as a Chief Elected Official. All seven members of Council vote.
With regret, Parkland County experienced a Council member vacancy in Division 6 as of August 10, 2024. Provision of the Municipal Government Act, section 162 allows for the municipality to carry-out the elected official duties in the absence of a member of Council.
A by-election for Parkland County is not required in accordance with the Municipal Government Act.
Councillor duties and support for Division 6 will continue by the six elected officials of Parkland County from August 11, 2024 to the next scheduled general municipal election on October 20, 2025.
Alternatively, Council may consider a by-election for Division 6, and that a by-election date would be scheduled for December 9, 2024, prior to the January 1, 2025 opening of candidate nominations for the scheduled October 20, 2025 municipal election.
