That the appointment of Acting Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Jeff Dyck, be extended from November 2, 2024 through to January 6, 2025.

Purpose
CAO Laura Swain will be extending her approved maternity leave from November 2, 2024 through to January 6, 2025, therefore an acting CAO appointment is required to fulfill this role.
Summary
A resolution of Council is required to appoint an Acting CAO, in accordance with Bylaw 2014-30. Jeff Dyck was appointed by Council at the March 12, 2024 Council meeting effective April 15, 2024 through to November 1, 2024. CAO Laura Swain will be extending her maternity leave from November 1, 2024 through to January 6, 2025.
Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications
The Municipal Government Act states that Council can only act by resolution or bylaw. Bylaw 2014-30 Section 3(2) provides for the continuation of the CAO position in the event of a vacancy of the position.
