Summary
Parkland County recognized the need to carry out a Boat Launch Study on Lake Wabamun. The Lake is seeing increasing usage by the boating public which has created some issues amongst a number of County subdivisions, as well as the Summer Villages along its shores. The two formally developed boat launches on the Lake appear to be unable to handle the demands placed upon them for access; this has resulted in increasing use of undeveloped lake access points situated in County subdivisions and Summer Villages around the Lake. Issues being raised by County and Summer Village residents include traffic related concerns, parking issues in their neighborhoods, garbage and shoreline damage.

All municipalities surrounding Lake Wabamun were invited to participate on a Joint Steering Committee to guide the project and EDA Collaborative Inc. was contracted to carry out the study. The primary goal to confirm what the lake access issues are and what solutions might exist to address them.

Administration is pleased to present the Study findings for Governance and Priorities Committee's information.
