Purpose
To amend business licensing bylaw, Bylaw No. 2014-09, to increase the business license fees that are established in Schedule "A" of the bylaw so they are consistent with those approved in the 2015 Budget Fees and Charges schedule.
Summary
Business licensing bylaw, Bylaw No. 2014-09, authorizes fees that Parkland County charges for annual business licenses. Business License Fees - Schedule “A” forms part of Bylaw No. 2014-09, and may only be amended by bylaw. Proposed Bylaw No. 2015-25 provides amendments to the annual fees for Resident Businesses (from $50.00 to $100.00) and Non-Resident Businesses (from $100.00 to $150.00). The increase in fees are based on Planning and Development’s regular review of comparable municipalities, to stay close to our comparators in charges for similar fees.
At the time of 2015 budget approval, Council approved revised Fees and Charges Schedules. Business License Fees were referred to in the Planning and Development Fees and Charges Schedule E.7. It would be appropriate to note that on Schedule E.7, business license fees are approved by the business licensing bylaw (not by resolution of Council).
