Proposed Motion

That Council approve up to $100,000 for repairs to Parkland County owned lands damaged during the 2018 ice heaving on Wabamun Lake, to be funded by the Extreme Events Restricted Surplus.

Administration supports the proposed motion.

 

Purpose

Administration is seeking Council's approval to utilize Extreme Events Restricted Surplus to repair County owned lands.

 

Summary

On January 8, 2018, Administration was notified by members of the Wabamun Watershed Management Council that there had been some significant damage to properties surrounding Wabamun Lake due to some abnormal levels of ice heaving.  While ice heaves and shifts causing various levels of damage is typically an annual occurrence, this is far greater than ever before.  Further details, including recommended action are included in the attached Administrative Report and Action Plan.
