Title
Acheson tower guy wire upgrade and retensioning

Proposed Motion(s)
That Council approve funding in the amount of $16,000 from Restricted Surplus - Future Capital for the required upgrade and retensioning of guy wires on the Acheson tower.

Body
Administration Recommendation(s)
Administration is supportive of this request as this work is required for the colocation of a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) tenant that will bring in additional revenues in support of Parkland County towers. ($1800+/month with this tenant).

Purpose
Acheson tower is currently constructed for a 370 P.A. wind load rating.  Recent engineering analysis suggests that increased wind speeds in the Parkland County area indicates a need to design towers to a greater wind load rating of 450 P.A. This upgrade work to the County's existing tower will improve the wind load rating to 450 P.A, and ensure capacity and structural integrity for adding the additional antenna for additional paying tenants.  As well as for Parkland County to install a back-haul antenna for the Acheson Fire Hall, and backhaul antenna to downtown Edmonton.

Summary
Completion of this work will allow a significant tenant to locate on the Acheson tower and provide for necessary communication services for the Acheson Fire Hall.
