Proposed Motion
That the Agriculture Operations Update be received for information, as presented.
Body
Administration Recommendation
Administration supports the proposed motion.
Purpose
This presentation will provide an overview of the County's 2026 weed management programs.
Summary
The Alberta Weed Control Act requires landowners to destroy prohibited noxious and control noxious weeds for the protection of the agricultural industry and combating invasive species. Parkland County uses an integrated pest management approach to weed management which includes inspection and enforcement on private properties; application of mechanical, chemical, and biological control measures on County land; and roadside mowing with chemical application through a wet blade system. Programs also include communications and education components to leverage community capacity and gain voluntary compliance for legislative requirements. This presentation will discuss services and 2026 program improvements to address resident concerns and support safety, aesthetics, and community pride.
