In accordance with Parkland County's Awards of Excellence Program Policy C-AD25, Administration supports the Athletic Award of Excellence presentation to Scarlet Camilleri.
Purpose
To acknowledge and provide recognition to a Parkland County resident with significant achievements.
Summary
Scarlet Camilleri’s athletic journey reflects a strong foundation rooted in her upbringing in Parkland County, where she participated in a wide range of activities including dance, community soccer, cross-country skiing, and other outdoor pursuits. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she demonstrated initiative and resilience by maintaining her fitness independently through creative strength training methods. Upon the reopening of local facilities, Scarlet expanded her activity into CrossFit, powerlifting, and strongwoman competitions before ultimately focusing on Olympic weightlifting while studying at the University of Alberta. Drawing on the work ethic and determination developed in her community, Scarlet has achieved notable success. In 2024, she earned a bronze medal at the Junior National Championships and continues to compete at both provincial and national levels.
