Administration Recommendation

Purpose

Administration recommends that the 2025 Fees & Charges Bylaw be approved to ensure compliance to the Municipal Government Act (MGA).

Summary

All fees and charges are updated annually through the budget process by the department responsible for administering the fee. This process ensures that fees adequately reflect changes to service delivery and remain comparable to those fees charged for similar services by neighbouring municipalities. The 2025 Fees & Charges have also been updated to capture any changes to fee bylaws made during the year.

Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications

MGA s.8(c) requires that fees for permits, licenses, and approvals must be established by bylaw. MGA s.191 provides that the amendment or repeal of a bylaw must be made in the same way as the original bylaw.
