Purpose
To present and request ratification of the negotiated Collective Agreement between Parkland County and The International Union of Operating Engineers Local Union No. 955
Summary
The Collective Agreement negotiating teams met on three occasions over the past couple of months and have reached a memorandum of agreement for a three-year contract. The union membership ratified the contract at their meeting on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 with 51.5% of the members voting in favour. The Parkland County's negotiating team of Rob McGowan, Tracy Kibblewhite and Daryl Phillips, are pleased to present to Council this agreement for ratification.
The agreement addresses a number of issues along with a number of housekeeping items. The following is a highlight summary of the new contract:
· Three-year agreement for 2013 - 2015.
· Wage adjustments in each year of 2.5% in 2013, 3% in 2014 and 3% in 2015.
· Market salary adjustment for Entwistle pool staff (Senior and Junior lifeguards - additional $3.91/hr & $2.54/hr respectively)
· The Employer may extend the probationary period of an employee by an additional 90 days.
· Employee may be granted up to two days with pay to perform tasks associated with being an executor of an estate.
· Employee rest break during the course of 4 continuous hours of work is increased from 10 minutes to 15 minutes.
