Purpose
Parkland County was approved for grant funding to support the purchase of hand tools for FireSmart neighborhood cleanup projects.
Summary
Fire Services has been conducting FireSmart assessments across the County and have received requests for assistance in helping some residents with providing equipment for clearing vegetation. Our FireSmart Coordinator Kyle located a potential grant source and applied for funding from the Wawanesa Community Wildfire Prevention Grant. We were successful in securing funding of $10,220 for tools to assist residents in vegetation management. The equipment to be purchased includes personal protective equipment, hand pruners, rakes, brush saws, and chain saws.
