That Governance and Priorities Committee direct administration to present Parkland County's Sustainability Awards Program Policy C-AD11 for Council's consideration at the June 25th Council meeting.

Purpose
To recognize and celebrate Parkland County's residents, businesses, schools, agricultural producers and youth who have implemented measures that advance environmental sustainability and to celebrate initiatives that have or will have a positive impact on Parkland County's environment.
Summary
This policy recognizes that the long-term viability of Parkland County can be best assured by adopting a more sustainable way of life through County initiatives and efforts of other key segments of our community. On recommendation of the Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC), Council will annually make award presentations to winners in the resident, business, youth, school and agricultural producer categories when their contributions increase sustainable livability in Parkland County. Ideally Sustainability Award presentations will occur during Environment Week.
Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications (As Required)
This policy forwards Parkland County's Strategic Plan goal to be a "respected steward of the environment".
This policy also fulfills Parkland County's Integrated Community Sustainability Plan's initiative 20.1 - Parkland County celebrates community-led sustainability successes by establishing Parkland County's Sustainability Awards Program.
