Body
Administration Recommendation

Purpose
To consider the Village of Wabamun's request for funding support of their Boat Launch Expansion and Enhancement project.
Summary
The Village of Wabamun has been approved for funding from the Province of Alberta's - Alberta Community Partnership Program (ACP) to undertake expansion and enhancement of their Boat Launch (Attachment #1). Parkland County Council passed a motion at their February 9, 2016 Council meeting supporting the ACP Application, but did not commit to funding at that time (Attachment #2). The Village is looking to move forward with the project and is seeking a funding commitment from Parkland County for the project (Attachment #3).
The project involves activities that will help address some of the issues identified as part of the Lake Wabamun Boat Launch Study completed in 2013, including improving launching capability and launch times at the facility. In addition improvements will be made to enhance the visitor experience, as well as awareness activities regarding invasive specifies. The total projected cost is $700,000 (Attachment #4) of which $350,000 is covered by the ACP funding with the remainder coming from the Municipalities (Village of Wabamun and Parkland County). The Village of Wabamun is seeking Parkland County's support for $165,000 of the remaining $350,000 required for the project.
