1. That Council approve the Future of Agriculture Study vision and principles, as presented.
2. That Council approve the Future of Agriculture Phase 2 Public Engagement Plan, as presented.

Body
Purpose
To seek Council direction and approval of the Future of Agriculture Study vision, principles and phase 2 public engagement plan.

Summary
In May 2015, Parkland County began work on the Future of Agriculture Study. The study is divided into two phases:

Phase 1 - This phase outlined the current agricultural characteristics, statistics, and trends in agriculture that have been observed in the County. The phase resulted in the creation of the Agriculture Situation Report and is considered complete.

Phase 2 - The phase will culminate in a final Future of Agriculture Study which will provide a vision, principles, and recommendations to support a healthy agricultural industry in Parkland County.

The study is currently in phase 2. Administration requires an approved vision statement and principles to proceed with the completion of the final study. The vision and principles are attached to this report.

Public engagement:
Administration is also seeking Council direction and approval of the phase 2 public engagement plan. Administration will proceed with undertaking public engagement in late spring of 2016. The public engagement process will include surveys, individual letters and final open house. The process will follow the engagement requirements outlined in the draft Public Consultation Policy and the phase 2 public engagement plan. The intent of the public engagement is to seek further comments from County residents, producers and other stakeholders.
