Title

Keephills Community Hub Renovation Funding Request

Proposed Motion

That Council approve an amount of up to $160,000 for the Keephills Community Hub renovation to be funded from County Facilities Restricted Surplus, as presented.

Body

Administration Recommendation

Administration supports the proposed motion.

Purpose

To obtain approval to address safety concerns with the current state of the Keephills Community Hub.

Summary

Council approved as part of the budget the re-cladding for the Keephills Community Hub's north side of the building to be completed.  In the process of the project, it was recognized that the overhangs and re-cladding for the remainder of the building needed to be repaired.  In order to address public safety, it would be in order for Parkland County to repair the Keephills Community Hub as required while there is a construction crew on-site at this time.  Should this extension of the project for 2019 be deferred, re-mobilization of a crew to Keephills would increase the costs of the renovation project.

Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications:

Complete Communities:  Recognize the diversity of Parkland's communities, while fostering a united and shared vision for Parkland as a whole.

Responsible Leadership:  Maintain the public's trust through transparent and fair decision-making, superior service delivery, and effective communication.

Financial Impact:

Cost:   $160,000

Source of Funding:  County Facilities Restricted Surplus
