Body

Purpose

Summary

Parkland County Fire Services assisted during the Fort McMurray wildfire that occurred this summer. Parkland County has invoiced Fort McMurray for services rendered during this period. This revenue was not anticipated in Budget 2016 and therefore can be utilized to help fund the Disaster Restricted Surplus which was depleted by the wildfires experienced by Parkland County in the spring of 2016. The amount of $304,560 is the total revenue received less expenditures incurred by the County during the Fort McMurray wildfire.

Parkland County administration is taking the neccessary steps to seek reimbursement from the Province of Alberta for the wildfire that occurred in the County this spring but provincial aid only applies after the County has incurred the first $750,000 in expenditures. The County's portion of the expenditures has been funded by the Disaster Restricted Surplus as approved by Council.
