Administration supports the passing of this Bylaw.
Purpose
The proposed Bylaw is required to meet the requirements of the Protection of Privacy Act to designate a person as the head of the local public body and to identify a Privacy Officer within Parkland County.
Summary
On June 11, 2025 Alberta's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act was replaced with two distinct pieces of legislation: the Access to Information Act and the Protection of Privacy Act (the "Act"). Section 55 of the Act states that Parkland County may delegate to any power, duty or function of the head under this Act, except the power to delegate the position of head.
