Body
Administration Recommendation
Administration recommends that Bylaw No. 08-2012 receive three readings in order to allow the timely, and effective, transition of the SDAB's Secretary position from the Manager of Planning and Development Services to the CAO's designate.
Purpose
With the creation of Parkland County's new Municipal Planning Commission it has been determined that the Manager of Planning and Development should act as the Secretary to the MPC, as it would be a conflict to have the Manager also remain as Secretary to the SDAB.
Summary
In the proposed amendment Administration is provided the necessary latitude (as exercised in similar County bylaws) to allow the CAO, or more typically his designate, to act as Secretary to the SDAB. Hence in future, the CAO has the ability to change the Administrative representative acting as Secretary to the SDAB without further amendment to this Bylaw. Or, if necessary, the CAO can act as Secretary.
