Administration Recommendation

Administration supports the proposed motions, as the proposed Municipal Development Plan amendment is in alignment with the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Growth Plan and the Council Strategic Plan.

 

Purpose

To amend the Municipal Development Plan to include the Hamlet of Wabamun and update figures to align with current municipal boundaries.

 

Summary

Proposed Bylaw 2022-17 is a Municipal Development Plan amendment triggered by the dissolution of the Village of Wabamun and the January 1, 2021, annexation by the City of Spruce Grove. The purpose of the proposed amendment is to guide development in the Hamlet of Wabamun following the dissolution, designate the Hamlet of Wabamun as a Priority Growth Hamlet, allow for the future adoption of a Hamlet Area Redevelopment Plan for the Hamlet of Wabamun, and to update all existing Municipal Development Plan figures to reflect boundary changes due to the dissolution, the January 1, 2021 Spruce Grove annexation, and reflect the most up to date data.

Council gave first reading to Bylaw 2022-17 on December 13, 2022.
