Title
2015 Road Program - Consideration for additional asphalt overlay project.
Proposed Motion
That Council approve the 2015 Engineering Services Budget amendment to reallocate $135,000 of grant funding to support the asphalt overlay project on Pine Avenue between Range Road 265 and Birch Drive.
Body
Administration Recommendation
Administration supports the proposed motion.
Purpose
To add a project to the 2015 Capital Road Program and complete it prior to the end of September 2015. The project recommended is an asphalt overlay along Pine Avenue between Range Road 265 and Birch Drive.
Summary
Engineering Services has been working towards completion of the 2015 Capital Road Program. All of the currently identified asphalt overlay projects, including the subdivision overlay that was added at the mid-year update are anticipated to be completed by September 15. The majority of the Capital Program, which includes the overlay projects, is ahead of schedule and under budget. Engineering Services supports the proposed motion and believes the additional project can be completed within the same budget and schedule as originally contemplated within the 2015 Road Program.
The project recommended is Pine Avenue between Range Road 265 and Birch Drive. This 1.2 km stretch of roadway is expected to take 5 to 7 days to complete and is estimated to cost $135,000. The project is identified within the proposed 2016 work program and is a good candidate to advance forward to 2015. Funding for the project is anticipated to come from the Alberta Municipal Infrastructure Program (AMIP) and Gas Tax Fund (GTF) grant funding. The project will be completely funded through AMIP if possible but is contingent on reconciliation of the overall program funding. In any event, the request is to reallocate existing funding within the currently approved 2015 Capital Road Program.
