Request to Table Council Code of Conduct Matters
Proposed Motion
That the Council further table two Code of Conduct matters from the June 25, 2024 and August 27, 2024 Council meeting respectively that were submitted to the Minister of Municipal Affairs for direction resulting from a loss of quorum until March 11, 2025 or earlier to allow for a response to be received by the Minister of Municipal Affairs.

Purpose
To further table Council Code of Conduct matters from the June 25, 2024 and August 27, 2024 Council meetings to allow for a response from the Minister of Municipal Affairs directing Council about how to address the two Code of Conduct matters given the loss of quorum.
Summary
At the Council meeting on June 25, 2024 Council tabled a Code of Conduct matter filed on May 23, 2024 until December 10, 2024 due to a loss of quorum. In accordance with section 168 of the Municipal Government Act, Council directed the Acting Chief Administrative Officer (ACAO) to contact the Minister of Municipal Affairs to seek direction to address the matter given the loss of quorum (Item RFD 24-183).
On August 27, 2024, Council tabled another Code of Conduct matter filed on May 29, 2024 until December 10, 2024 due to loss of quorum. Again, Council directed the ACAO to contact the Minister of Municipal Affairs to seek a remedy for the loss of quorum (Item PRE 24-069).
The ACAO has been in communications with the Minister but has yet to receive direction. As such, administration recommends Council further table both Code of Conduct matters to March 11, 2025 or sooner should the Minister provide guidance earlier than that time, to await direction from the Minister.
