Purpose

To authorize the annual special tax levy for the repair maintenance and upgrading of the water supply and distribution system in the Acheson Industrial Area.

Summary

The 1998 Acheson Industrial Area Long Range Water Plan recommended replacing the existing water line service charge with a special levy which would be applied against all lots capable of benefitting from general water supply and for water supply for fire protection purposes.  The water line service charge was eliminated in the 1999 fiscal year and replaced with a special levy which can only be collected through a bylaw passed on an annual basis.  The rate for 2020 will be $0.3695 for each $1,000 of assessed value to a maximum assessed value of $5,000,000.
