Purpose
Pursuant to Part 10 Division 5 of the Municipal Government Act (MGA), special tax bylaws must be passed by Council annually.  This bylaw authorizes a special tax levy for the repair maintenance and upgrading of the water supply and distribution system in Acheson Industrial Area, Parkland Industrial Estates and Parkland Business Park.

Summary
The 1998 Acheson Industrial Area Long Range Water Plan recommended replacing the existing water line service charge with a special levy which would be applied against all lots capable of benefitting from the Acheson Fire Protection System.  The water line service charge was eliminated in the 1999 fiscal year and replaced with a special levy which can only be collected through a bylaw passed on an annual basis.  The rates for 2015 will be $0.4156 for each $1,000 of assessed value to a maximum assessed value of $5,000,000.
