Administration supports the proposed motions.
Purpose
Proposed Bylaw 2018-03 is to adopt Parkland County’s Land Use Bylaw to upcoming cannabis legalization.
Summary
Bylaw 2018-03 adds definitions for Cannabis, Cannabis Retail Sales, Cannabis Production Facility, and Cannabis Consumption Facility to the Land Use Bylaw. Cannabis Production Facility will replace Specialized Botanical Production Facility. In addition, the Bylaw amends existing use class definitions to exclude the activities covered in the new land use classifications. Finally, the Bylaw prohibits the new land use classifications from being accessory to a principal use.

The proposed amendment is consistent with goals of the Municipal Development Plan No. 2017-14, and no amendment to the MDP or any Area Structure Plans is required.
