Creation of Rural Charter
Proposed Motion
That the Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) advocate to the Government of Alberta for the creation of a Rural Charter, developed in meaningful partnership with rural municipalities, that formally recognizes the unique characteristics, roles, risks, and contributions of rural municipalities to the province; and FURTHER IT BE RESOLVED THAT the RMA works with the Government of Alberta to ensure the Rural Charter results in measurable, enforceable outcomes that strengthen the long-term financial sustainability, autonomy, and resilience of rural municipalities across Alberta.
