Engineering Services Department and GENIVAR Inc. advertised this project with the closing date of April 26, 2012. Four (4) bids were received ranging in value from $768,655.80 to $1,158,976.50. As the lowest bidder meets all the requirements, we are prepared to award soon following approval of this Request for Decsion. Council originally approved $750,000 for this project in the 2012 budget. Utilizing the low bid for this work the total adjusted project funding requirement is as follows:

$94,451 Consulting Engineers Fees
$768,656 Construction Contractors Fees
$863,107 Total funds required

The original construction cost estimate was developed by our consultant during the preparation of the 2012 budget last June. We recognise the "C" estimate that was prepared prior to advertising was over the budget amount but decided to move forward with receiving bids prior to presenting a Request for Decision in order to base the request on true values.
