Proposed Motion

1. That the Lake Isle and Lac Ste. Anne Stewardship Society (LILSA) Water Quality and Water Quantity Project overview be received for information, as presented.

2. That the Committee direct administration to bring the Lake Isle and Lac Ste. Anne Stewardship Society (LILSA) proposed motion and steering committee member request to the Council meeting on January 13, 2026 for decision.

Administration supports the proposed motion.

 

Purpose

To present an overview of the proposed LILSA Water Quality and Water Quantity Project.

 

Summary

LILSA is creating a Steering Committee to develop a Lake Management Plan for Lac Ste Anne, Lake Isle, and the surrounding watersheds. This is in response to the water quality and water quantity issues that both watersheds are experiencing. LILSA has been engaging with the various municipalities surrounding the two lakes, as well as the Airshed and Watershed Stewardship Branch within the Government of Alberta’s Environment and Protected Areas. Currently seeking Parkland County’s endorsement and a Parkland Steering Committee Member.

Municipal Development Plan Policy 4.2.6 Collaborate with lake management groups to monitor and manage lake health and encourage lake stewardship.
