Administration supports the recommendations.

Purpose

The purpose of the proposed Bylaw No. 2015-35 is to replace Bylaw No. 11-2008, and meet the requirements of the Municipal Government Act.

Summary

On reviewing current Bylaw No. 11-2008, administration determined that some improvements could be made.  The intent and provisions of the bylaw remain the same, but the wording of the bylaw has been updated to refer to Alberta Regulation 218/2014, and amendments thereto.

Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications

The Municipal Government Act, Section 388 requires that a bylaw may be passed which authorizes the council to impose a tax in respect of equipment used to drill a well for which a license is required under the Oil and Gas Conservation Act.
