Title
Parkland County Trails Master Plan
Proposed Motion
That Council approve the funding of up to $65,000 from the Recreation Restricted Surplus for the creation of a Trails Master Plan.
Body
Administration Recommendation
Administration supports the proposed motion.
Purpose
To provide Council and Administration a strategic plan and criterion on how trails should be prioritized, developed and maintained within Parkland County.
Summary
In October 2023 the Parkland County Trails Strategy document was created to be a strategic document that translates what administration heard from very extensive public and stakeholder engagement programs into priorities and recommendations regarding trails.
In April 2025, Council participated in a trails prioritization exercise and identified that there was a gap in documents to help support Administration and Council in the decision-making process when it comes to identifying where trails needed to be developed. The Trails Master Plan would bridge this current gap. Moreover, during this prioritization exercise, Administration was tasked to identify potential trails that could use improvement or be developed in Parkland County.
