Body

Administration Recommendation

Purpose

To provide Council with a recommendation for the Hasse Lake Redevelopment Project.

Summary

In March 2025, Parkland County undertook the Hasse Lake Redevelopment Plan to create a long-term strategy for improving the Hasse Lake Recreational Area, a 75 hectare natural park featuring trails, forested areas, and a lake used primarily for year round recreational fishing. The project responds to deteriorating infrastructure, declining water quality, aging amenities, and increasing expectations for nature based recreation.

Historical Information:

Parkland County has consistently maintained basic operations, keeping the park tidy and safe despite aging amenities. External partners, particularly Alberta Environment and the Alberta Conservation Association have been involved for more than a decade in efforts such as lake aeration to improve water quality.

Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications:

Complete Communities - We recognize the diversity of Parkland County's communities, while fostering a unified and shared vision for Parkland as a whole.

Financial Impact:

Cost: $120,000

Source of Funding: Future Capital Restricted Surplus
