Proposed Motion

That the Stormwater Master Plan update be received for information, as presented.

Administration Recommendation

Administration supports the proposed motion.

Purpose

Administration is providing a status update on the Stormwater Master Plan at 50% completion.

Summary

In March of 2022 ISL Engineering and Land Services Ltd. was retained to complete a Stormwater Master Plan for Parkland County; the project is anticipated to be complete by Q3 2023. The project is currently at the end of Task 1 “Basin Identification” and Task 2, “Regulatory Review”, and is progressing on the final Task 3, “System Management”

The purpose is to:

1.                     Provide an update on what we have reviewed to date and heard from administration.

2.                     Present basin identification and mapping. 

3.                     Present regulatory review progress and next steps.

4.                     Present system management outline.

5.                     Present the next steps forward as we move into completing all tasks.

Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications:

Goal 2 - To ensure that County Council is supported by a robust and current framework of bylaws, policies, and plans.

Goal 4 - To strive for organizational excellence in delivering County services and programs to residents, businesses, and community groups.

Goal 5 - To develop a policy framework that ensures protection of environmentally significant areas.

Through Pillar C - We respect the natural environment, recognizing Parkland County’s biodiversity and unique natural beauty, the land’s value for agricultural purposes, and ensuring our commitment to sustainable agricultural and environmental practices.

Through Pillar D - We maintain the public’s trust through transparent and fair decision-making, superior service delivery, and effective engagement.
