Purpose
To provide support for the Sundance 7 project and to participate by presenting that support at the hearing.

Summary
TransAlta MidAmerican Partnership (TAMA Power), under the Hydro and Electric Energy Act, has applied to construct and operate a 856-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant in the Wabamun area. The power plant would be located in Section 10, Township 52, Range 4, West of the Fifth Meridian.

TransAlta has requested that the County consider providing support for the project as part of the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) Hearing. The AUC, the independent utilities regulator, will be holding a hearing to consider the power plant application and submissions received in Proceeding 3183.

If Council approves the proposed motion, Administration will send a letter to the AUC to notify them of our support and participation.
