That Committee of the Whole receive the Capital Region Growth Plan Update as information.
Purpose
To provide Council with an update to the Capital Region Growth Plan.
Summary
Over the course of the last two months the Capital Region Board’s Growth Plan Task Force have met with groups such as UDI, and the Homebuilders, as well as conducted feedback sessions in all quadrants of the region. In addition many municipalities, including Parkland County have provided comments on the proposed policies and directions in the draft Regional Growth Plan. The Key issues and outcomes, and the briefing notes to the Task Force are attached for Council’s review.
The key issues for Parkland County continue to be:
1) Agricultural policies such as the requirement for agricultural impact assessments;
2) Density targets for small towns, villages, and hamlets; and
3) Country residential policies that limit further growth.
