Title
2016 Specialized Transportation Grant
Proposed Motion
That the 2016 Specialized Transportation Grant allocations be approved, as presented.
Body
Administration Recommendation
Administration supports the allocation of grant funding as presented.
Purpose
As per Policy C-RP21, Parkland County provides funding to assist non-profit groups who provide transportation services for Parkland County seniors and disabled persons.
Summary
The submitted applications include an overview of the number of people that the organization services, particularly County seniors and disabled residents, and a financial statement and/or budget that indicates revenues and expenditures. All groups depend on various sources of revenue such as grants, fundraising, donations, and membership and user fees, to help support their programs.
Applicants vary greatly in size, diversity, budget, and sources of income, making it difficult to establish a formula to calculate equitable amounts to be given. Upon reviewing the applications and past allocations, Administration is recommending the remaining applicants receive the same amount of funding as in previous years. Allocations would be as follows:
Beehive Support Services: $3,000
Tomahawk & District Silver Tops Senior Citizens Society: $4,500
Royal Canadian Legion - Wildwood Branch #149 $9,000
Spruce Grove Specialized Transit Service $12,000
Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications
Policy C-RP21
Financial Impact:
Cost: $28,500
Source of Funding: 2016 Operating Budget
